About connection

Connect a group of silly people, go fishing and drinking tea

“Micro-connection 2012”, micro and macro—the connection within the society, between people and history, memory of one nation. Seek for the thoughts and ideas that are more complicated than bio and machenical logics. It is a line connecting time, spaces, spirits, materials and soureces of ideas. The structure of this theater was depicted by even a presumptive clue. 

“Micro connection 2012” builds different performing spaces within a tangible environment, and swith the connection according to specific environment as the change of scene. Performers also change their ways of demonstration between performance and action.

The performance jump from one reality, space, culture, history to another. They seem independent but very much connected. It’s like the montage shorts – the connections are to be found by audiences themselves.

第13届文献展不是卡塞尔今年唯一的大事件。10月2日，在中国文化年的框架下，23位中国艺术家将在卡塞尔的公共空间展示他们的作品。编辑在北京拜访了其中4位艺术家的工作室。我们将用两版来报道这四位艺术家和他们的作品。

为最重要的一刻而工作

——新媒体艺术家张琳和丰江舟将在卡塞尔展示他们的多媒体表演作品

可以确定的是，当这一对艺术家夫妇——30岁的张琳和48岁的丰江舟与10月2日带来他们的“公共艺术展”开幕式表演时，卡塞尔市政厅的市民大厅将会抬头换面。数月以来这对艺术家一直在他们位于北京市郊的工作室为此努力工作。这段半小时的表演将融合光影、图画、视频投影、镜像效果、音乐和舞蹈。

在5月初的卡塞尔之行中，艺术家已对市民大厅作了现场勘查和详细测量。

他们的工作室和传统的艺术工作室不同。好多年轻人在电脑前用软件处理图像。工作室供有15名员工，多为艺术专业毕业。这对艺术家承担着艺术企业的责任。

“我们24小时在一起，我们一周工作7天，连吃饭都不忘讨论工作。”张琳说。她的外向和丰江舟的内敛正好互补，同样互补的是两人的专业背景。

丰江舟曾是摇滚乐手，后来是中国最有代表性的电子音乐人。张琳从央美毕业后到美国继续接受精英教育。今天这一对成为中国新媒体和电子艺术的标杆。

过去数年里，他们创作了5个大型演出作品。卡塞尔的开幕式将是他们的第6件作品。他们靠制作舞台剧维持运转。除了2002年柏林的电子音乐节之外，这次的卡塞尔项目将是他们新媒体艺术作品在德国的首演。此前，他们已在美国和欧洲的意大利、法国演出。
